Seedling Starter mix is a finer overall graded material with a slightly higher organic component for feeding the plant for faster growth rate while it also holds slightly more available water without being wet to promote root growth. Grow Mix is a mixed grade material with larger inorganic material and less organic composition for more mature plants. It Drains and dries faster than the seedling mix, with more larger material present. These gritty mix potting soils are designed for lithops specifically, as they are more demanding in their care, requirements and water needs. There is no perlite or vermiculite in our mix so no worries of floating media or holding too much water, There is a diversity of grain sizes so that there is ample aeration and drainage of the soil which prevents excess moisture retention to avoid root rot. All Our aggregate Mix Soils are complete and ready to plant lithops, Split Rocks, Mesembs, Cacti and Succulents that like a similar soil / grit / substrate that's fast draining. Both soils have a high ratio of one or more Pumice, Decomposed Granite or Sand to the organic components that can consist of coir and/or top grade soil. Living stone plants like a generally dry and arid environment, they are adapted to areas of very little and seasonal rainfall, but have adapted to home culture as long as their needs are met. Naturally they go through a summer drought and dormancy into a growth then flowers to new leaf growth / replacement yearly. Our Soil Mix is a critical part of a healthy and successful lithops growing experience. With a large diversity of gain sizes in our gritty mix, it settles around your repotted plants main tap root for fast anchoring and holding them in place.
